Ex-Sony Music exec Rowan Thiedeman joins Live Nation

Rowan Thiedeman has joined Live Nation Australia in a newly-created role, TIO can reveal.

The former major-label executive is now full-time with the live entertainment juggernaut as senior manager of marketing and promotions. He is tasked with deepening relationships with key industry partners and media.

It’s the perfect role for the seasoned executive and comes at a pivotal time for Live Nation, as it readies to rebound after two strenuous years of the pandemic.

TIO understands Thiedeman will be working closely with local record companies big and small, and key media outlets including all radio networks.

Thiedeman – who got his start in the industry in 2006 working for Melbourne radio station Nova 100 – first landed at Live Nation a year ago, covering a maternity leave contract.

Prior to joining the global touring company, Thiedeman spent almost nine years with Sony Music in Australia – most recently as director of national promotions based in Sydney.

At Sony Music, he worked on campaigns for global stars as Foo Fighters, Pink and Khalid, and homegrown acts including Gang Of Youths, Guy Sebastian, Amy Shark and Tones And I.

Before making the big move to a major, Thiedeman was with independent player Shock Records – first in the mailroom, and was later elevated to national media manager.

His new role is based at Live Nation Australia’s headquarters in Cremorne, Melbourne.
