Rolling Stone Australia partners with Sonos for December issue
Rolling Stone Australia is set to reveal the 200 Greatest Aussie Albums of All Time in its December issue, including a livestream powered by Sonos.
The mag’s publisher, The Brag Media, said the shortlist was compiled after an “exhaustive process” with over 800 industry figures including journalists, producers and artists.
A hand-picked group of internal staff and music experts then undertook a deliberation process, before the final list was decided upon by Rolling Stone Australia using criteria that covered the cultural and critical impact of each record.
To celebrate the issue, Rolling Stone Australia and Sonos will host a livestream countdown of the Top 100 albums from the list on December 5 with two special, but as yet unnamed, guest hosts.
Poppy Reid, The Brag Media’s managing editor, said the albums span a full 55 years, with its earliest two albums being released within just months of each other in 1965, and the two most recent records arriving within days of each other amidst the 2020 pandemic.
“We couldn’t be more excited for our readers to delve into this collector’s edition,” Reid said.
“This magazine celebrates and acknowledges so much of the music that has soundtracked our readers’ lives.”
The collectible double-length issue, which hits newsstands on December 6, also features a special edition cover illustrated by proud Yuwi, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander artist, Dylan Mooney.
Last month The Brag Media also announced that its Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards will return in 2022, with a star-studded party to reunite the music industry.
