Rob Atkinson becomes ARN CEO

Australian Radio Network is getting a new CEO next month as part of a company reshuffle. Rob Atkinson, the current CEO of Adshel for the past five years, replaces Tony Kendall.

The latter is promoted to the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer for ARN’s parent company APN, to lead a new business development unit.

APN CEO Ciaran Davis says that in Kendall’s new role, he “will be responsible for leading and driving integrated group revenue across all of APN’s assets, and delivering tier one solutions to our customers.

“Tony’s extensive history across several sectors in media both in Australia and overseas makes him the perfect choice to lead this new division within the Group.”

Atkinson’s brief is to use his leadership skills and strong strategic thinking to transform ARN’s revenue and profit similar to his achievements at Adshel.

Davis stated that Atkinson’s “experience at Clear Channel UK and five subsequent years at Adshel have given him the skills and experience to lead ARN into its next phase of growth as a multi-platform entertainment company.”

In other moves, Mike Tyquin is promoted from Chief Commercial Officer to Adshel CEO overseeing A/NZ “to bring his unique insight into the outdoor industry, developed over 20 years of senior and strategic experience.”

APN has been brought in Chief People Officer Emma Hogan who had a similar role at Foxtel, while Justin Stone comes from Bauer Media to fill the newly created role of Director of Research and Insights.

Ciaran Davis explains the executive changes have come about to reposition APN as a leading media company and to create integration across the Group to optimise value.

“The appointments are crucial to our future growth and will ensure we can meet the challenges of the competitive and evolving media environment,” he said.
