Sydney-based rap-rock-electro-pop mutants RedHook have signed with New World Artists, it was announced this morning.

They will be repped by NWA agents Edwin Tehrani and Tom Johannesen, who says, “We are very happy to welcome RedHook to the New World Artists roster.

“RedHook bring a unique and exciting sound, there is nothing quite like them in Australia.”

The band are about to embark on some heavy road duty.

After opening up the main stage at the inaugural Good Things festival in Sydney last month, RedHook finished a national tour with The Faim, and head off for six national shows February 8—23 with Hands Like Houses, Ocean Grove and Endless Heights.

RedHook were also confirmed this week to play the UK edition of the hard rock Download festival in mid-June alongside heavyweights Slipknot, Tool and Die Antwoord, after the festival founder was sent a link to their triple j Unearthed profile.

On February 8, the band release a new single ‘Paralysed’, produced by Stevie Knight (Trophy Eyes, Stand Atlantic) and Dave Petrovic (Northlane, Tonight Alive) and mixed by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside).

Singer Emmy Mack explains, “Anyone who’s ever struggled with their mental health will understand the feeling that this song is about, probably all too well.

“It shines an ugly but very real spotlight on those dark periods when depression and anxiety is crushing you –  and inside you’re just screaming at yourself to snap out of it and get on with business, but physically –  you just can’t.

“It’s like you’re incapacitated, you can’t even move. You’re fighting as hard as you can but you feel paralysed.”

Previous single ‘Turn Up The Stereotype’ was picked up by triple j and received 100,000 Spotify streams.
