QMusic has announced new extended deadlines for the Queensland Music Awards and The Billy Thorpe Scholarship.

Queensland songwriters have a one-week extension to midnight Monday, November 19, for those racing to the finish line on new work.

The self-nominating categories are pop, rock, electronic/dance, blues/roots, heavy, jazz, schools, hip hop/rap, country, world/folk, soul/funk /R’n’B, video and singer-songwriter.

To view 2019 featured entries and submission guidelines head to the QMA website.

Entries will be judged by 70 music executives from around the country.

“Queensland artists shouldn’t miss this rare opportunity to showcase their gifts to the world,” said QMusic CEO Joel Edmondson.

“The QMAs have a rich history of unearthing hitherto completely unrecognised talent – we never know what new faces will grace the stage on the awards night, and go on to bigger and better things.”

The Billy Thorpe Scholarship also now closes at midnight Monday, November 19

Emerging musicians and duos are also encouraged to apply via the QMusic website.

Funded by the Queensland government and now in its 11th year, the scholarship provides $10,000 to record with an established producer, and receive career-planning advice from Chugg Entertainment.
