PPCA and Australia Council announce recipients of recording grants

Courtney Barnett, Ben Salter, Lance Ferguson, The Grigoryan Brothers and Ainslie Wills are the recipients of $15,000 grants awarded by the PPCA and Australian Council. The grants will be used to cover recording costs.

“We were extremely pleased by the range and number of applicants under the program”, says Dan Rosen, CEO of PPCA. “We look forward to hearing the recordings that emerge as a result of this funding and wish all of the recipients the very best over the course of their recording careers.”

Mr Tony Grybowski, Australia Council Chief Executive Officer, echoes these sentiments. “The response to the initiative was incredibly strong and a great indication of the quality and ambition of our recording artists.”

Courtney Barnett will use the grant to record her debut full length album, after recent overseas success. Lance Ferguson of The Bambos will record an album for his collaborative project Lanu (which features Megan Washington), indie songwriter Ben Salter will record the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut The Cat, The Grigoryan Brothers will record an album featuring their own compositions and those of feted writers Nigel Westlake, Shaun Rigney and Stuart Greenbaum, and Melbourne singer/songwriter Ainslie Wills will record her second album.
