Pharrell Williams to join The Voice

If you thought Pharrell Williams’ ubiquity might have been fading with Happy finally knocked off the top of the Hot 100 and the ARIA Singles chart this week, well, you were wrong. The star is set to join the cast of US singing show The Voice, stepping in for the departing Cee Lo Green.

Paul Telegdy, President, of Alternative and Late Night Programming, at NBC Entertainment said of the appointment: “[Pharrell’s] dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family.

“He has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect fit for The Voice as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise. It feels like we are welcoming an existing family member home.”

The show is currently in its seventh season.
