Outerloop launches music industry educational initiative
Current and aspiring music industry professionals now have access to a coaching guide dedicated to educating the next generation of music business entrepreneurs, courtesy of US music company Outerloop.
The initiative was officially launched by Outerloop President and CEO Mike Mowery today. Outerloop Coaching combines online courses, webinars and mentoring for aspiring managers and self-managed musicians along with personal anecdotes and pointers from Mowery who has been an influential member of the music industry for over 20 years.
“Education is something that I am really passionate about,” Mowery said. “I did a number of small group Skype sessions through TEI (The Entertainment Institute) when it first launched, and I got to see how much of a demand there is for the accessibility of industry professionals.
“I was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable and prepared the participants were. Many of them came to me with very specific questions and needs. It was invigorating to be able to use my extensive knowledge and experience to guide them in a specific direction. Outerloop Coaching is geared toward opening this opportunity to more people on a more regular basis,” Mowery stated.
Along with signing up for Outerloop Coaching and Mowery’s free e-newsletter, individuals will receive “Music Management Primer: The Business of Being an Artist,” an e-book written by Mike Mowery and Paul Phelps. The e-book provides an insight into the 21st century music business, providing much more detail on these concepts and more advanced additional concepts within the online learning materials through Outerloop.
Based in Washington DC, Outerloop is a full-service artist management firm and Record Label. While Mowery is the President and Managing partner of Outerloop Management and Outerloop Records, he is also the owner of EDM label Crime Kitchen, a partner of a multitude of EDM outlets such as website Raver Rafting and label Most Addictive Records.
Broadening his entrepreneurial prowess, Mowery also started the podcast network Jabberjaw Media, mobile app PickUp Sports, local news blog Source of the Spring, Fenton Street Market and non-profit organisation and 5K Leo’s Run.
