OpenLIVE partners with Dan Sultan

High-resolution music download store and live recording platformOpenLIVEhas teamed with Dan Sultan for his upcoming tour.

Sultan will tour his new material nationally through November and December,making available OpenLIVE’s limited edition physical recording of his sold-out National Theatre concert from earlier in the year. Recorded and produced by OpenLIVE, the live collection be available for sale exclusively at the shows, while the digital download will be available fromwww.openlive.coin Hi-Resolution from November 13.

OpenLIVE CEO Dale Moore toldTMNthe decision to make OpenLIVE’s National Theatre recording available at the show was headed up by Sultan’s manager Michael Parisi.

“As long as people can get a copy of the recording, digitally or in physical form then we’re happy as it was a brilliant show.”

Moore toldTMNthe local company has been working with Sultan’s label Liberation and Parisi for some time.

“Both have been fantastic to work with,” Moore toldTMN. “And with what we’ve built we expect to be working with many more artists and labels in the future, but I’m sure we’ll continue to work closely with Liberation.”

OpenLIVElaunchedin August with over 1.5m tracks from established and emerging artists, and 2.5m Hi-Res Audio (CD quality) tracks, which can be downloaded intact, without lossy compression.

Following the launch Moore received feedback from some of the over 100 artists who have created profiles on the platform.

“It’s a great new avenue for artists to get their music out to their fans and live music is highly engaging. And given there’s absolutely no obligation to release and no up-front costs for the artists, getting artists on board has been very simple.

“Once artists are clear that there is no obligation to release and that their music is secure and they retain all the rights to the recording then it really has been constant positive feedback – especially about the sound quality that we’re able to achieve.”

OpenLIVE is set to partner with Australian venues for 24-bit/48kHz recordings of live audio performances. It will collaborate with a few venues on Sultan’s tour to record performances.

The platform is expected to launch its consumer services in the UK and US in the coming months and announce some of the hi-res audiorecordings set to be made available for download.
