One Night Stand heading to Tassie town; “we punch above our weight”
Ben & Liam confirmed this morning that the location of triple j‘s 2018 One Night Stand festival will be St Helens in Tasmania.
The free all-ages gig will go off on September 1, with Vance Joy, Peking Duk, Tkay Maidza, Middle Kids and Alex the Astronaut, plus a triple j Unearthed winner.
The mayor of St Helens, Mick Tucker, said: “This concert will not only bring the young people of St Helens together but give them a huge sense of pride in our little town.
“We might be small but this just shows we punch above our weight.”
The small but mighty town is the largest on Tassie’s east coast, with a population of just 2,500.
Expressing his love for the little but mighty down, Tucker extols “St Helens is the action capital of Tasmania – with our water sports, game fishing and walking trails, and now the 2018 One Night Stand!”
The j’s One Night Stand has been bringing live music off the beaten touring trail to small regional towns around the country for 15 years, hitting up Mount Isa in Queensland last year, and Geraldton in WA in 2016.
