Nominees announced for WAM Song Of The Year
WA’s premier song competition, WAM Song Of The Year, has revealed the nominees for this year’s awards. The nominations pool features an inspiring mix of songs from both established acts and new discoveries.
They are vying for a share in over $40,000 worth in prizes over 16 categories covering all genres. Folk artist Riley Pearce leads the way with three nominations with songs Circles, Seasick and Outside The Lines.
Scoring two nominations are Bill Lawrie, The Brow, The Decline, Harry Mitchell, The Intenso Band, Kate Pass Kohesia Ensemble, Lilt, Morgan Bain, Rag n’ Bone, Scalphunter and The Struggling Kings.
A cast of local and international judges including Paul Harding (Pendulum-UK), Fiona Kitschin (The Drones-VIC) and Rob Younger (Radio Birdman-NSW) will anonymously and independently assess the entries.
The winners will be revealed at an awards party on May 17 at the WA Maritime Museum, with performances from MC Magnus Danger Magnus, DJ Charlie Bucket, The Money War, Ben Matthews Presents LIVEWYRE and local act Dan Howls.
The City of Fremantle and APRA AMCOS will continue on as major partners of the event for another year.
In recent years, WAM Song Of The Year has exposed the songwriting talents of Methyl Ethel, Tired Lion, KUČKA, Mathas, Timothy Nelson and Beni Bjah.
