123 AGENCY BRINGS IN CLAIRY BROWNE

Melbourne based booking agency 123 added soul singer Clairy Browne(pictured) to its roster. Emerging as Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes and finding global recognition after a track was used on a Heineken ad in European, she’s just used her name for latest album Pool.

…AND K+LAB

New Zealand glitch-hop producer K+Lab, currently playing the European circuit after relocating to Berlin last year, has also assigned his booking to 123. Behind his Worldly album, he’s booked for seven New Zealand and Australian dates between November 19 to February 18. K-Lab, who collaborated with Canadian glitch-hop godfather Stickybuds on the Supergravy album, he also picked up nominations for the NZ Music Awards and The UK Glitch Hop Awards.

LIAM PAYNE SIGNS US DEAL WITH REPUBLIC

One Direction’s Liam Payne has inked a US deal with Republic Records, home to Drake, Lorde, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Lil’ Wayne. The label says the 23-year old is releasing new music “soon” along with his UK label Capitol.

Former bandmate Niall Horan issued his solo single This Town through Capitol this month. It entered the UK charts at #9 and the US at #25.

FUGA LAUNCHES US OPERATION, INKS DEAL WITH TOMMY BOY

Amsterdam-founded technology solutions provider FUGA has signed a deal with the US label behind Ghostface Killah, Naughty by Nature and Method Man. The deal with Tommy Boy Entertainment to provide digital distribution, with see FUGA launch FUGA Americas in New York. It will offer operational support and marketing services to customers across the United States, Canada and Latin America.

FUGA Americas will be managed by David Driessen, Director of Sales and Client Services, who is relocating from Europe.

REALLY USEFUL BICYCLE

Concord Bicycle Music and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group have formed The Musical Company. It will provide a full array of services to creators of musical theater works including that of a publisher and a record label. Sean Patrick Flahaven, formerly Warner/Chappell’s Senior VP of Theatre and Catalogue Development, is its CEO.

In addition, Bicycle Music will also handle publishing administration for Webber’s song portfolio worldwide. In addition, Bicycle Music also now manages Marvin Hamlisch’s works.

HUSH FOUNDATION SCORES INSPIRED MUSIC

Hush Foundation, the charity which works to alleviate stress for children in hospital and their families, drew singer-songwriter Lior, a capella group The Idea of North and the composer Elena Kats-Chernin to work with children in hospital. The result is Hush 16: A Piece of Quiet, the 16th album in the series. Covering indie, jazz and classical music to calm spirits down, the album is launched at The City Recital Hall in Sydney on November 15 and The Melbourne Recital Centre on November 24.

The musicians declared the project as being deeply satisfying. “Children have the most beautiful imaginations – vivid, boundless and uninhibited,” Lior said.

Nick Begbie of The Idea of North said it took just one meeting with Hush founder Dr. Catherine Crock AM, “to learn of the amazing effect the Hush collection has had on the lives, the treatments and the recovery journeys of so many children and their families. After that meeting, no amount of busyness could stop us from being involved.”

HILLSONG CHANNEL ON FOXTEL

Foxtel has introduced Hillsong Channel (Channel 183), with shows as Brian Houston TV, Worship by Hillsong, Young & Free and Hillsong Church: Sydney.

HI FIVE BACK ON TV

Children’s entertainment group Hi-5 return to free to air TV next year through Nine Network. A new deal calls for a brand new series, set and cast (auditions begin soon), aimed at the 2—5 demographic.

Executive Creative Director and Executive Producer for Hi-5, Julie Greene, said the show “will continue to offer the opportunity for active participation from children at home, with a sense that they are sharing in a dynamic, physically involving and sensitive exploration of their world, while also giving a platform to showcase a new lineup of ‘triple threat’ of young Australian talent who can sing, dance and act.”

AEG EXTENDS TO PUERTO RICO

AEG and PRISA Group agreed for AEG Facilities to manage and operate a new 6,000-capacity venue being developed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, set to open in early 2019 in the upcoming 5-acre hospitality and entertainment district called District Live!

SHAZAM GETS INTO VADIO

Shazam and Vadio, a music video platform that drives digital engagement, will introduce specially curated music video channels directly to the app to millions of Shazam users. Now, when a person Shazams a song, they are presented with a music video channel, which can also be curated by editors, automatically generated by trending data or built by brands to reflect genres or the interests and attributes of their audience segments.

REV CALLS OUT TO WA MUSICIANS

Rev wants WA musicians to come up with music meets film ideas for possible presentation at the July 6—19, 2017 event (also its 20th anniversary.) If you have an idea they’d love to hear it – whether it be moving image art based experimentation or composing a score to an existing work, they’re open to anything. AUSTRALIAN ORCHESTRA AT FOXTEL ARTS

Foxtel Arts will screen a series of performances by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, to add to its weekly orchestral programming. The first broadcast collaboration, Avi Avital took the mandolin to places it’s never before been.
