UNIFIED MANAGING EDWIN WHITE

Melbourne songwriter and producer Edwin White(pictured) is now managed worldwide by UNIFIED. His team is Jaddan and Rachael Comerford and Toni Saunders, which also looks after Vance Joy and Amy Shark.

White is best known for his work on Vance Joy’s Dream Your Life Away album and also been involved in Shark’s recordings.

His publishing is with Warner Chappell Publishing Worldwide, and WAU / Mushroom for Australia & NZ. He operates his own studio, notbadyou, in the suburb of Essendon.

REMOTE CONTROL GETS KAMASI WASHINGTON FOR ANZ

Remote Control has scored the Australian and New Zealand rights to US avant-garde jazz great Kamasi Washington, through his signing to UK-based label Young Turks (The xx, Sampha, FKA Twigs).

Just issued is Truth, the sixth movement from Harmony of Difference –a new EP set for release this winter. Truth is accompanied by a new short film from director A.G. Rojas.

TRENCH RECORDS INKS FIRST INTERNATIONAL NAME

Australian EDM identity Moonbase’s Trench Records has signed its first international name: New Jersey producer, artist and DJ ARKTKT. He issues an EP, Uminari, the first week of May.

ARKTKT (Jarred Barnes) is no dilettante bedroom producer, with a BA Degree in Songwriting from the Berklee College of Music. “An imaginative producer that effortlessly unites razing bass with oozing melodies, ARKTKT has sculpted a signature sound that we love and hope you do too,” says Moonbase.

NORTHLANE GUITARIST CREATES BUNDLE

Northlane guitarist Jon Deiley partnered with STL Tones to create his own signature Kemper bundle, out April 21.

The bundle comprises a Kemper amp that digitally replicates pedals, amps and cabs. The two camps worked together using five of Deiley’s guitar amp/cab/pedal setups to create a collection that caters to all his playing styles in the studio and on the stage.

Deiley’s bundle contains 90 studio profiles and 68 direct profiles for a total of 158 profiles.

OZTIX, MAKER, JOIN AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK

In its third year, the Australian Music Week summit (November 1–3, Cronulla Beach in Sydney) has OzTix has a presenting partner.

This year, with the conference adding a focus on electronica, it also entered a partnership with Maker Agency spearheaded by Daniel Morgan.

Details on the conference, which in the last two years drew a host of international delegates, will be unveiled shortly.

MARIAH CAREY’S BUTTERFLY FLUTTERS TO EPIC

Mariah Carey’s Butterfly MC Records has entered into a partnership with Sony Music imprint Epic Records. Details of the deal were not revealed but a new album will come “later this year.”

Carey has had a tumultuous relationship with Sony, but things seem to be on track with L.A. Reid as Chairman-CEO at Epic.

Carey started her career at Sony Music in 1990 after slipping her cassette into the pocket of its then head, Tommy Mottola. She left in 2000, and went to Island Def Jam where Reid was, and they made her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi. She returned to Sony in 2015 when Reid signed her.

MARK RONSON LAUNCHING LEXUS COUPE

Mark Ronson is helping car brand Lexus launch its new LC coupe in Europe. The six-month campaign is called Make Your Mark and centres on creating greater synergy between engineering and design.

Ronson said: “I always like to work with collaborators who are innovative and unique in and out of the studio.

“When I was approached by Lexus with the concept of this campaign and saw the new LC, it felt fresh and exciting; I was drawn to the idea of using music to inspire and create an experience around this car.”

CABBAGE AT BLUE RAINCOAT

Fast rising Manchester band Cabbage signed a global publishing deal with Jeremy Lascelles and producer Robin Millar’s Blue Raincoat Songs.

The five-piece is now signed to Infectious Records, and self-released four EPs culminating in the EP compilation Young, Dumb and Full Of …

CREATIVE RADIO STRATEGY ON WA ROAD SAFETY

A team up between Australian Radio Network and Adshel saw a creative cross-promotion as part of a community service campaign for the Road Safety Commission of Western Australia.

Motorists get a synchronised message via both their radio (ARN’s 96FM) and 14 outdoor advertising digital panels across Perth during their commute.

While for ARN parent APN it is the chance to flex all its assets, for road safety authorities it was the chance to build empathy between motorists and cyclists.

NZ’S MEDIAWORKS APPOINTS AUSSIE REP

New Zealand’s radio, TV and digital company MediaWorks has appointed WeThinkMedia to represent it in Australia.

WeThinkMedia was set up by media executive veteran Peter Wiltshire, former Chief Revenue Officer and Group Sales and Marketing Director at Nine Entertainment. Its operations are helmed by Jane Stucci.

RYAN TEDDER GOES DOWNTOWN

A new deal with Downtown Music Publishing will bring all of Ryan Tedder’s songs written outside his band OneRepublic under one umbrella. It’s buying the rights to these songs, owned by his Patriot Games Publishing.

Tedder has produced and written songs for Madonna, Adele, Beyoncé and U2. Billboard called him the “Undercover King of Pop” in a 2014 cover story that said he made $2.5 million in songwriting the year before.

CARLA BRUNI GETS MANAGEMENT

French singer-songwriter Carla Bruni (and the country’s former First Lady) has joined the roster of Pascal Negre’s management company #NP. The company, which is partnered with Live Nation France, offers artist services for recorded music, live work and digital marketing.

A BITE AT THE OPERA

A partnership between WA Opera and the University of Western Australia sees opera singers likeTeddy Tahu Rhodes go back to college to do their Master’s degree in Music (Opera). UWA students get the chance to attend performances and be mentored.
