Name change, new management, for SA music awards
South Australia’s peak music association has taken over the running of the state’s annual music awards, which will now be known as SA Music Awards.
They are held on Wednesday November 11 with judges drawn from the music industry around the country to find the state’s best original talent.
“South Australia has a great history of churning out intrinsically creative and talented musicians,” stresses Music SA’s General Manager Lisa Bishop. “Some of the past winners include The Hilltop Hoods, The Audreys, Tkay Maizda and The Shaolin Afronauts.”
The event was known for the past three years as Fowler’s Live Music Awards and founded by Peter Darwin, who runs Adelaide club Fowler’s Live.
The Event Manager for SA Music Awards is Emma Coyle, who is also Music SA’s Industry Development Manager.
She said: “The SAM Awards are an important way to recognise and celebrate the those driving our music industry forward: venues, festivals, managers and most importantly, artists. The award categories and judges have been chosen carefully to reflect this.”
The various categories will be unveiled when nominations open on Monday August 3 at www.MusicSA.com.au/SouthAustralianMusicAwards.
