6PR Perth’s Graham Mabury retires

Perth radio 6PR’s Nightline host Graham Mabury announced his retirement on air on Tuesday night, bringing to a close 33 years on radio. “It’s time for me to start thinking about life on the other side of the radio,” he explained. “I wanted to leave while the program is in good shape. This is a good time to pass the baton to somebody new.” He wants to spend more time with his wife and continue to be a pastor at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Ben Dawson to run Queens Wharf Brewery 

Ben Dawson is the new operator of major Newcastle live music venue Queens Wharf Brewery. He is part of a consortium which bought the establishment and take over at the end of this month. It went into receivership last November after previous operator Michael Hogg ran into ‘‘significant trading difficulties” after buying it in in 2008 for a reported $8 million. Dawson plans extensive renovations to the venue.

Zeg joins Radio Today

High profile cartoonist, caricaturist, illustrator and animator Zeg will from this week supply a weekly cartoon for Radio Today.

Alan Howe leaves HWT

Long time music writer and Editor at the Herald and Weekly Times’s various titles, Alan Howe, has left the company. During his stint as editor of the Sunday Herald Sun, the music obsessed Howe expanded the music section to eight pages and, at his farewell, said his greatest triumph was to talk Daddy Cool into reuniting for a tsunami benefit in February 2005 at the Myer Music Bowl with Cold Chisel, Diesel, John Farnham and Billy Thorpe.

Mitch Waters heads Adap.tv Australia

Mitch Waters takes over as managing director of AOL’s Adap.tv Australia, after Phil Duffield was promoted to Senior Vice President of its international operations. The firm plans, buys and measures video ad trades across web, linear TV and mobile video.

Two additions to Zoo Digital

Super Radio Network’s  digital station Zoo Digital has brought in Luke Warburton to present the morning show Nothing But 90’s and Peter Samios for the More Music Weekday afternoon shift.

Samsung changes

While Australian consumers ponder when and if Samsung launches its new Milk Music streaming service locally, its Australian operations has undergone a shuffle. Michael Richardson, VP Consumer Electronic Operations, has left, weeks after the departure of Communications and Mobile VP Tyler McGee.
