AMAZON TAPS ON ROLLING STONE EXEC EDITOR

Amazon has tapped on Rolling Stone USA Executive Editor Nathan Brackett to head editorial for its recently launched music service Amazon Unlimited Music. The role calls on the curating tens of millions of songs into playlists Brackett joined Stone in 1996, and gained his current position in 2013.

Music streaming companies have leaned on media names for their expertise and knowledge. This included BBC Radio’s Zan Rowe going to Apple’s Beats 1, and BBC Head of Music George Ergatoudis to Spotify.

NOVA SYDNEY SALES TEAM EXPANDS

NOVA Entertainment had made some changes to its Sydney Sales team. Josh Halling, who joined NOVA as Group Sales Manager of the National Direct team in May 2012 has been promoted to the newly created role of Sydney Sales Director for Direct and Independent Agencies, effective January 2017.

Sydney Head of Agency Sales Rob Sloan, who’s worked in both the Sydney and Melbourne companies for the company since joining in 2006, has already started in his new role as Agency Sales Director.


LIVE NATION TAPS JANNA-FAY TUCK FOR ITS MIXITUP AGENCY

Janna-Fay Tuck, previously Sales and Marketing Coordinator at WME | IMG, has joined Live Nation’s joint venture brand entertainment agency Mixitup Australia.

Through her position with WME | IMG, Tuck has worked on the Australian Open of Surfing and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
As Partnerships Coordinator at Mixitup, Tuck is primarily responsible for the coordination of partnership acquisition and management of the sales division, working across concerts, festivals and venues. She works in assistance to Greg Segal, Mixitup’s Managing Director.

NEW COO FOR PERTH STADIUM

The new Perth Stadium’s COO is Brad Paatsch, Strategic Projects Manager for the past 4½ years at Fremantle Football Club. He joins the stadium management firm VenuesLive Management Services as second-in-charge to Chief Executive Mike McKenna. He will transition to the new role over the next three months. He has experience in the planning and design of several stadiums across Australia.

The 60,000 sports and entertainment Perth Stadium is more than 50% complete and VenuesLive promises it will be one of the most advanced stadiums in the world when it opens for business.

BOUCHET MOVES TO EP ROLE

Bruno Bouchet, current Content Creative Manager of KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O Show moves next year to Executive Producer, He replaces Nic McClure whom Australian Radio Network said will take some time off “to catch her breath” after two years in the role.

TWO ADDITIONS TO ARCA BOARD

Long time tour and artist manager Howard Freeman has joined the board of the Australian Road Crew Association (ARCA) as President. Also joining is pro-audio CX Network boss Julius Grafton with founders Ian ‘Piggy’ Peel and Adrian Anderson. More names will be added in due time.

ARCA is fund raising for road crew members who have fallen into hard times, financially and medically. It serves as a support group for members, who are most susceptible to suicide among those working in the Australian music industry. As reported in TMN, it is getting support with a 5-cent levy from all concert tickets sold.

DEAD SET LEGENDS TO STAY

Just weeks after announcing it will scrap The Dead Set Legends after 19 years, Triple M Sydney has confirmed the show will be part of its programming in 2017. DSL will become a daily show from Monday to Friday between 6pm and 7pm, while Dan Ginnane will continue as host.

BBC Music’s reshuffle continues, with newly appointed Radio and Music director Bob Shennan appointing Lewis Carnie as Head of Programs for Radio 2 and Paul Rodgers as Head of Programs for 6 Music.

DANNII MINOGUE GETS LOGIE FEVER

Dannii Minogue, who began in television at the age of 12, will move into a mentoring role at TV’s Logies, She will teach the winner of the Best Newcomer category, and is on the judging panel of the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer.

As reported in TMN previously, she joins the judging panel of Let It Shine, the UK production looking for five youngsters to play Take That members in a musical written about them.

SHAUN JAMES EXITS FOXTEL

Shaun James, former head of the now-defunct Presto streaming service, was among the seven executives farewell by Foxtel at a dinner at Peacock Gardens in Crows Nest, Sydney. James was earlier head of Warner Music Australia.

NEW COUNTRY MANAGER FOR HOTWIRE

PR agency Hotwire named Head of Client Services Mylan Vu as new Country Manager following the departure of Alexis Wilson after 2½ years.

NATALIE LIVINGSTONE AT AIR NEWS

AIR News tapped Melbourne-based Natalie Livingstone to the role of Saturday afternoon news/sport presenter. She has been a broadcast journalist with BBC, Orion Media, Quidem Midlands and UTV Media in Britain.

JACOBSEN HOSTS MACQUARIE MEDIA PODCAST

Actor Shane Jacobson is host of Macquarie Media’s new client-branded podcast series. The five-part The ‘R’ Word, for Stockland Retirement Living, addresses the myths of retirement living.

BOX PLUS PROMOTES PHIL POOLE

British TV company Box Plus Network promoted Phil Poole to Programming Director, overlooking programming, music and scheduling. Box Plus is co-owned by Bauer Media Group and Channel Four Television Corporation.

MIKE PARRY GOES FULL TIME AT 6IX

After working at 6IX Perth on a casual basis since March, the station has offered Mike Parry a full-time role hosting mornings weekday since mid-January.

SCHOOL OF MUSIC SEARCH CONTINUES

The search for a new Head of Music at ANU University continues, the Canberra Times reported, after the latest candidate, Alan Lourens, the Head of the University of Western Australia School of Music, declined the job. The School has now been without a permanent head since August 2015 when Professor Peter Tregear departed suddenly.
