Warner promotes Seton to president of ADA

Warner Music Group promoted Eliah Seton to President of ADA Worldwide, its independent distribution and services arm. He has been with the firm since 1009 and was most recently SVP, International Strategy & Operations where he was involved in its international expansion, especially into Asia.

Peter Maynard quits as GM of Nova Adelaide

Peter Maynard quit as General Manager for Nova 919 and FIVEaa, effective this Friday. He is returning to Melbourne after 18 months for family reasons. Financial Controller, Neil O'Reilly, is Acting GM in the interim.

Authentic’s Danika Johnston exits for Mamamia

Danika Johnston, National Sales Manager at content creator Authentic Entertainment is now National Sales Manger at Mamamia Women’s Network. She was earlier Sydney Sales Manager at DMG Radio.

Chrissie Vincent at College of the Arts

The South Melbourne campus of Australian College Of The Arts (Collarts) has officially announced Melbourne publicist Chrissie Vincent as its Associate Program Leader in Entertainment Management. Vincent has already begun her role. She tells this column that she is bringing in two musician lecturers “to make the course more relevant and the best in Australia”. The first of these is Steve Mackay of 12 Ft. Ninjas, who also lectures at NMIT. Vincent continues to operate Chrissie Vincent Publicity & Management as well as finishing off her Masters in International Music Business at Box Hill institute.

More axings after Fairfax/Macquarie radio merger

Since On The Dial’s round up on Monday of dismissals in Brisbane and Sydney following the Fairfax and Macquarie radio merger, more pink slips seem to have been handed out.

At 4BC Brisbane, the roles of General Manager Anthony Frangi and Content Director Steve Kyte were made redundant. Frangi, a radio veteran of 20 years, joined in 2013 and overhauled the on-air team although with minimal effect on listener numbers. Kyte joined the station late last year.

In Melbourne, production staff and presenters at Macquarie’s Magic 1278 became redundant as the station switches to streaming from 4BH in Brisbane.

New management, publicist for Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey’s revolving door of business associates continues to turn. She’s appointed TV producers Brian Sher and Stella Bulochnikov as her fifth set of managers since 2013. The pair have worked with rapper T.I. in the past. Also, a day after splitting with longtime publicist Cindi Berger, Carey announced that Chris Chambers of Chambers Group, who works with urban acts as Lil Wayne and Drake, will represent her. The move comes after poor sales of Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse. Carey has a busy 2015: a Las Vegas residency, a new Greatest Hits set and a Christmas movie.

December Media taps ABC’s Menzies

Emmy-winning Melbourne-based Giant Screen/MAX film and TV production house December Media tapped long time ABC producer Stuart Menzies as its new CEO. He replaces Heath Watt who stepped down as Managing Director last month. The company is currently working on three 3D productions. In his ten years at the ABC, Menzies was Head of Documentaries for six years before heading ABC2.

Adelaide’s Carclew shedding staffers

As part of a restructure to deal with circumstances including static funding and limited private philanthropy, North Adelaide youth arts organisation Carclew will shed about six staffers. It is in consultation with the six for a decision by May. Up to six new roles will be created, as Carclew continues its work with young creatives through development programs, workshops (including songwriting and recording), scholarships, grants, exhibitions, and the Fifth Quarter career and business advice program.

NME.com Deputy Editor Lucy Jones to exit

British music site NME.com has lost Deputy Editor Lucy Jones who quit to go freelance on culture, nature and the environment stories.

In a swap at WSFM Sydney, drive presenter Lars Peterson and afternoons host Jason Staveley have swapped shifts.

Natalie Harvey shifts to Seven West Media

Natalie Harvey fills the newly created role of Brisbane sales director at Seven West Media, moving from her role as GM at Universal McCann Brisbane.

Joy makes Tag Team permanent

After filling in for some weeks, Joy 94.9 FM made the Tag Team permanent breakfast hosts on Thursdays. Shaun Malseed and Hunter Smith met Welsh-born Harry Lloyd at the station’s Taste of Radio course.

Diddy, Jon Bon Jovi, move into TV producing

Hip hop entrepreneur Diddy will executive produce animated comedy Brightmoor for FX Channel. It is described as "South Park set in inner city Detroit. It revolves around the African American pupils at Brightmoor Elementary."

Jon Bon Jovi is producing reality show If I Wasn't a Rock Star, in conjunction with a number of companies including The Weinstein Company-Dimension. It sees major music names return to their hometowns to recreate the lives they would have had. Said the singer, "I was drawn to this project simply because it will be a celebration of the working men and women of this country. They are the real rock stars."

Max Carter retires

Max Carter, Chief Engineer at Sky Sports Radio and Tabcorp, is retiring after 35 years in radio. Carter was a passionate embracer of radio’s new technology, spearheading the use of Digital Audio Broadcasting, for which he won two Commercial Radio Australia awards.

Karl Falzon launches NXTGIG

Adelaide entrepreneur Karl Falzon is the CEO and founder of NXTGIG, a new app covering gig guide and live music news. Two years in the making, it is for the use of artists, venues and promoters who use the platform “where event information, promotion, brand and messaging converge to build and engage audiences for more vibrant communities."
