ALISON WONDERLAND LANDS SIRIUSXM SHOW

Los Angeles-based Australian DJ and producer Alison Wonderland (above)has landed a weekly show on satellite radio SiriusXM.

Radio Wonderland, which runs for an hour on Mondays US time (re-airing Wednesdays) and will be available from its second episode as a podcast worldwide from Monday May 8.

The show made its debut this week on the Electric Area Channel 52. The first episode featured an interview with her buddy Skrillex, as part of the regular 808s and Mates. The rest of the show is Wonderland playing her favourite tracks, classic and new, including her new mixtape and music fromBoombox Cartel, Ekali and Crankdat.

TIM ROGERS, BERNARD FANNING, STEP IN AT DOUBLE J

Tim Rogers and Bernard Fanning are joining Double J through the month of May.

Rogers, the station’s Australian Artist of the Year in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to music, takes over the 11am-2pm lunch slot between Monday 8 and Friday 12 May while Myf Warhurst is away overseas on Eurovision duties.

Fanning will be Artist In Residence 3-5pm every Sunday in May. He’ll curate four diverse programs, with spins and discussions. Melody & Ritmo will be a globally-minded selection of songs which use melody and rhythm to get a point across; Heartbreakers & Balltearers will juxtapose sweet songs with sour; Duos & Collabs will showcase vocal collaborations; and Country & Rock will throw a spotlight on those guitar-driven scenes.

Double J dominated the first DAB+ survey of the year, but its results announced this morning in the second survey were a little more uneven.

ED ST. JOHN JOINS MUSIC AUSTRALIA BOARD

Long time Australian music identity Ed St. John has joined the board of Music Australia. Its CEO Chris Bowen said, “Having overseen the Australian music industry’s greatest highs and deepest lows, Ed brings a unique perspective to the Music Australia board as positive signs of renewal emerge.”.

St. John, who began writing in the late ‘70s for Rolling Stone Australia while at school, went on to become Managing Director of BMG Australia, President and CEO of Warner Music Australia, was Chairman of ARIA for a year and Chairman of the ARIA Awards for a decade.

More recently he served as a consultant for The Voice and X Factor, joined the board of digital content distributor Valleyarm Digital as has been Executive GM at the not-for-profit organisation The Ethics Centre.

NOVA ANNOUNCES JODIE WILLIAMS AS NEW MD OF SYDNEY …

Jodie Williams(left) takes over as new Music Director of Nova 93.7 Sydney, from May 22. She was previously at Power FM in Nowra, NSW, where she was Music Director and on-air announcer for the past 12 months. She also held the MD role at Zoo FM/2DU in Dubbo.

Williams’ predecessor at Nova, Josh McCabe, returned to Perth to take up the role of Music Director for Nova 93.7.

…AND KANE REIKEN AS DIGITAL COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

In his new role of Digital Commercial Director, Kane Reiken will strategise Nova’s Nova Entertainment’s digital audiences and brands and environments, and also work on product innovation and partnerships.

Reiken was at MailOnline, for two years as mobile product and innovation specialist in the UK and most recently Head of Product in Australia.

GLENN STEWART JOINS PREMIER ARTISTS

Tour promoter and artist manager Glenn Stewart has joined Premier Artists as its newest agent. He brings over to the roster Clowns (whom he’s managed and booked for three years), Toe To Toe and My Echo, with more to be announced,

He also worked with Supersuckers, Guttermouth and CJ Ramone and has booked GBH, CKY, Agent Orange, Dwarves and Nekromantix to name a few.

UK MUSIC APPOINTS POLITICIAN AS CEO

Trade organisation UK Music has appointed as its third Chief Executive Michael Dugher, a Labour MP for seven years and former Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

A staunch champion of British music, he replaces Jo Dipple who held the role for five years before announcing in January she was stepping down.

UK Music’s members include the Association of Independent Music (AIM), British Phonographic Industry (BPI), Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) and PRS for Music

It lobbies all levels of government on issues as copyright protection, secondary ticketing, protecting venues, promoting new opportunities and broadening diversity in the sector.

FOWLER AT 94.1 FM

Richard Fowler who stepped down last year as top rating breakfast co-host at Gold FM, returned to the airwaves this week as new breakfast host for community station 94.1 FM. It’s the same timeslot but without the “pressure of sales, ratings or share prices” he pointed out.

RICHARD HERRING TO CHAIR OZTAM

High-ranking media industry veteran Richard Herring is taking over as Independent Chairman of OzTAM. He replaces Michael Anderson who stepped down after five years to focus on his recent appointment as CEO of MediaWorks New Zealand.

AFTRS APPOINTS UNCLE BRUCE PASCOE

The Australian Film Television & Radio School appointed its first Elder in Residence, Uncle Bruce Pascoe, to mark 50 years since Australians voted to include Aboriginal people in the Census.

His appointment comes as the school introduced a new Indigenous Consultation Resource for its students.

AIDC PROMOTES BURGIN

The Australian International Documentary Conference’s Programmer Alice Burgin, a well-known festival and conference curator in Australia and the US, is moved up to Director. Her predecessor Andrew Wiseman earlier advised he wanted to to focus again on his filmmaking.

NEW HIRE AT DESTINATION NSW

Destination NSW, which works closely with the music industry on awards, festivals and events, appointed Porter Novelli Managing Director Tamsyn Alley as its General Manager of Communications. Her first project is Vivid Sydney

NEW AD FOR OPERA Q

With Opera Q on a three-year deadline to turn its finances around or lose its place in the Australian Major Performing Arts Group, the job falls to Patrick Nolan (ex-Legs On The Wall) to do the job after he takes over as Brisbane based Artistic Director on November 1.

NEW A&R EARS FOR ROSTRUM

Nicole Plantin is the new VP of A&R for US label Rostrum Records. After her start at The Neptunes’ Star Trak label, she joined BPI where her signings included Jhené Aiko, ScHoolboy Q, Odd Future, Dreezy and Joey Bada$$.

At Rostrum her most recent signing was 18-year old Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rapper Caleb Brown who drops debut All Dawgs Go to Heaven 2 shortly.
