MTV Classic returning on Fetch TV
The MTV Classic network will return to Fetch TV on Monday February 27 due to popular demand, confirms Simon Bates, Sydney-based Vice President, Head of MTV Asia Pacific.
The 24-hour channel broadcasts the artists and songs part of the MTV format since its launch in 1981.
It offers a mixture of rock, R&B, power ballads and retro pop from major acts like Madonna, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Spice Girls, Queen, U2, Whitney Houston and Prince.
“Artists from the 80s through to the 00s appeal to a range of audiences both young and old, and we’re listening to the fans and are bringing MTV Classic back to Fetch TV,”Bates said,
“Whether it’s Nirvana, Destiny’s Child, The Cure or Britney Spears, MTV Classic is the home for music legends that shaped pop culture via their music videos.”
Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV, added: “Fetch is thrilled to be working with MTV to bring back the much loved MTV Classic to our platform.
“The launch cements the strong relationship between Fetch TV and Viacom, and increases the number of Viacom channels we carry to eight.
MTV Classic will be available on Fetch TV channel 140.
It is one of a number of new channels arriving on Monday. The others are Disney XD, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CBeebies, ZooMoo, 13th Street, MTV Classic, 111 Very Funny, Edge Sports and Garage TV.
These additions are part of a Fetch TV strategy where subscription prices rise slightly, but entry price for the channels are slashed and consumers get more control about which content they’re paying for.
They’ll be available through four $6 “Skinny” channel bundles as well as a $20 Ultimate Pack.
More channels will be added on through the year, Fetch TV said.
