Music Australia Invites Key Industry Bodies to Coastal Town for ‘More Than a One Night Stand’

Music Australia is launching a series of programmes and events in collaboration with key music bodies to support the return of triple j’s One Night Stand in Warrnambool, Victoria.

The “More Than A One Night Stand Sessions” will see Music Australia team up with the likes of youth music organisation The Push, the Live Music Office, the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and APRA AMCOS, among others, to deliver bespoke industry training programmes, panel discussions, songwriting workshops, and an industry forum leading up to the main event.

  • The Push will spearhead a specialised All-Ages Events Team training programme, providing hands-on experience to 15 young people from the region.
  • CrewCare will offer a tailored production crew training initiative to up-skill live music workers in audio, lighting, video, and stage management.
  • In partnership with Warrnambool Council, the Live Music Office will roll out its signature Live and Local Programme over the next 12 months. This initiative aims to foster live music growth in the community through sustainable best-practice strategies, improved regulation and policy development, and a series of Micro-Festival events.
  • The Association of Artist Managers (AAM) will host an in-conversation discussion, highlighting the critical relationship between artists and their managers.
  • AIR (the Australian Independent Record Labels Association) will present a panel of label representatives sharing insights and career pathways.
  • Impact consulting firm Kennell&Co will engage with First Nations communities in the region, presenting a focused discussion panel and a Q&A session with two First Nations artists, aimed at young and emerging artists.
  • APRA AMCOS will offer multiple songwriting and collaboration opportunities through their SongHubs Academy programme, facilitated by industry professionals. APRA AMCOS is also running SongCraft, featuring a conversation with a high-profile songwriter, and launching the Songmakers School Holiday Programme, in partnership with the Victorian Government, scheduled for the September break.

Additionally, Music Australia is launching the inaugural Music Expo, where attendees can discover and learn from over 12 key music industry peak bodies and support agencies about the services they provide to the Australian music industry.

The Sessions will take place at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre between September 12 and 14.

Millie Millgate, Director of Music Australia, said, “The One Night Stand partnership with triple j has provided a tremendous platform to unite key music organisations. Together, we aim to support regional communities and offer valuable capacity-building and skills development for emerging artists and industry professionals alike.”
