More artists announced for AWME 2014

The 7th Australasian Worldwide Music Expo has added more acts to perform at the event, to be held in Melbourne between November 13-16.

500 representatives from global and Australian festivals, record labels, booking agencies and arts organisations will be attending the Asia-Pacific’s largest industry conference and showcase event for roots music.

Heading the new additions are multi-platinum singer/songwriter Pete Murray who plays AWME for the first time, and Sydney-based Declan Kelly presenting his Diesel’n’Dub project which gives his reggae-dub treatment to Midnight Oil songs.

Other artists include Melbourne soul and jazz singers Chelsea Wilson and Rita Satch, contemporary folk-pop act Oh Pep!, Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson from Scotland, Canada’s Kim Wempe and New Zealand’s Batucada Sound Machine.

Representing the Northern Territory are three diverse names signed to the Alice Springs-based CAAMA label –  singer guitarist Cassandra Williams,  one time Saltwater Band singer and Gurrumul cousin, Stewart Gaykamangu who’s dropping his debut solo album next month, and the desert reggae group Tjintu Desert Band who travel from the remote community of Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) west of Alice Springs.

AWME last week received $20,000 from the Victorian state government to market itself both here and overseas.
