Moonbase teams up with FBi Radio & Trench Records to raise money for brain cancer

Moonbase teams up with FBi Radio & Trench Records to raise money for brain cancer

Sydney producer Moonbase (formerly Moonbase Commander), aka Nick Luke, last week announced his return from an unexpected hiatus, revealing that he was suffering from a brain tumour.

Now, he teams up with FBi Radio and Trench Records to raise money for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and raise awareness about the disease.

Sharing the news of his illness in a Facebook post, Luke wrote, “From the start of 2018 I spent most of my time in hospital rooms

“I was experiencing migraines, bouts of dizziness, nausea and much more over the past year.”

Over the 2017 new year period after a run of shows, a CT scan showed that “these symptoms were being caused by a deadly tumour in my head that was growing against my brain stem.

“One emergency brain surgery, many stitches (pic attached), metal plating, and a lot of recovery time later, I’m happy to say that I’m all clear and ready to start making moves again.”

Showcasing a wide range of up-and-coming Australian artists, the fundraising event – dubbed ‘Greymatter’ – will happen on Friday, October 5 at Oxford Art Factory and will feature performances from Akouo, Dro Carey, Flexmami, Isa, Jade le Flay, Mowgli May, Slim Set (DJ set), Sortagoth, Tiber, Trophie (live set), Tobacco Rat and Moonbase himself.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation in support of brain cancer awareness and research.
