Middle Kids Go Global With Mushroom Music Publishing

Middle Kids Go Global With Mushroom Music Publishing

Middle Kids extend their relationship with Mushroom Music Publishing to now include global rights to their works.

Announced today (Oct. 31), the worldwide pact is an extension to an arrangement signed in 2017 with Mushroom Music Publishing, covering Australia and New Zealand.

In the same year, the Sydney indie rock outfit – lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Hannah Joy, guitarist Tim Fitz and drummer Harry Day — took the elevator up with their debut single “Edge of Town,” and their debut album Lost Friends, which in November 2018 collected triple j’s Australian album of the year.

Lost Friends peaked at No. 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earned a nomination at the 2018 ARIA Awards, in the best rock album category.

Follow-up Today We’re the Greatest peaked at No. 5 on the national chart, went on to collect the ARIA Award for best rock album, and saw the trio strut their stuff on U.S. network television, including late night spots on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and CBS This Morning.

The group has toured extensively, including support slots with Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, War on Drugs and Cold War Kids, and a 29-date tour of North America with Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World.

“Tim and I are really thankful and excited to be extending our relationship with Mushroom,” comments Joy, who stars in the new comedy/drama Christmess. “We have loved working with Linda, Erol, Jules and the team since 2017 and are looking forward to what the future holds.”

There’s more music on the way.

Album No. 3 Faith Crisis Pt 1 is due out Feb 16, 2024, and includes new single “Dramamine,” Billboard-charting cut “Highland,” and “Bootleg Firecracker”.

“We’ve been lucky enough to work with Middle Kids for the last six years,” comments Mushroom Music Publishing head of A&R and creative Erol Yurdagul.

“Throughout that time,” adds Yurdagul, “we’ve seen the band continue to grow creatively and build a stunning discography along the way – which is only strengthened by the upcoming release of their new album, Faith Crisis Pt 1. Hannah and Tim are two of the finest songwriters Australia has produced and we are delighted to extend our partnership with them, in which we will also now represent them for the world. I can’t wait for you all to hear their upcoming release.”
