Michael Gudinski to be honoured at state funeral in Melbourne
Legendary music man Michael Gudinski will receive a state funeral in Victoria following his shock passing yesterday.
Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said he had been to see Gudinski’s wife, Sue, last night to offer the service, and she accepted.
“It will be a celebration of his life – the details will be finalised in coming days,” he said, calling Gudinski a “great Victorian”.
Andrews noted the event had to be COVID-Safe, but would involve coming together at an “iconic venue” to celebrate his life and the legacy he had left.
Few people – if any – have shaped the Australian music industry more than Michael Gudinski. His was the beating heart of the Victorian scene, and his irrepressible spark entertained our state for 50 years. Treasured friend, Victorian legend – and a legacy that will last forever. pic.twitter.com/xcRVYc6dZk
