Ed Sheeran’s signee Maisie Peters gears up to take Australia by storm
Maisie Peters is backed by global superstar Ed Sheeran, has performed on Jimmy Kimmel and debuted at #2 on the UK Album Chart, behind only the artist formerly known as Kanye West (now Ye).
And now, the signee to Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Recordings is gearing up to show off her unique talents as support for Sheeran’s upcoming Nova Red Room performance, screened virtually here in Australia.
Her debut album You Signed Up For This features her single ‘Psycho’ and previous single ‘John Hughes Movie’, as well as fan favourites ‘Brooklyn’ and ‘Volcano’. It is a coming-of-age story and a love letter to girlhood.
Tracks on the album were not only co-written with Sheeran, but also Steve Mac, Fred again…, Johnny McDaid, and Miranda Cooper. She also worked with producers Joe Rubel (Tom Grennan, Benjamin Francis Leftwich), Afterhrs (Niall Horan, GRACEY), Rob Milton (Easy Life, Holly Humberstone), and Brad Ellis (Jorja Smith, Little Mix).
Sheeran said his writing sessions with Peters made him sure he had to work with her.
“She’s a very special person who continues to push her storytelling in new directions,” he said.
Peters said her latest single ‘Psycho’ reflects on toxic relationships and gaslighting exes.
“‘Psycho’ tells a dramatic story of someone whose lies catch up to them, and who seem to feel very little when they hurt other people,” she said. “I think this is something near enough everyone in the world can relate to, myself included.”
The cinematic video – which has already clocked up over 4.5 million views on YouTube – as co-written with director Louis Bhose.
Locally, the album is out via Warner Music Australia (WMA).
