Lost Motel Checks In For Third Anniversary With New Hires

As the Lost Motel team blows out three candles, the festival and touring specialist introduces a bunch of new employees.

Among the recruits are senior touring operations manager Rowan Johnson (pictured above), while a trio joins the touring team — Tracey Bonavia, Breiana Bennetts and Kyra Cumming, all of whom work alongside Rosie Potter.

Johnson, an experienced touring profession who has worked with the likes of Neil Finn, Robyn, Cut Copy and Flight Facilities, across almost two decades, joins from Auckland Council, where he was manager of event operations.

“I am thrilled to be working with Sophie, Yasmin, their team and all of their artists. Throughout the Lost Motel family there’s a great mix of familiar faces and exciting new ones,” comments Johnson in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to solving all of the logistical challenges that come my way and bringing my experience to help their artists put on their best shows yet.”

Meanwhile, Bonavia takes the leap from the travel industry, where she worked closely — and on a daily basis — with tour managers and artists on global tours and fests.

Bennetts is an experienced hand at festival event management both in New Zealand and abroad, and worked with Lost Motel co-founder Yasmin Massey at the sold-out Bob Moses show at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, near Morrison, Colorado.

Completing the raft of new arrivals is Cumming, previously senior sound engineer and entertainment assistant at The Beach Hotel, Byron Bay, where she worked local music events and festivals for the Northern Rivers community.

The newly enlarged team will “navigate the road to the stage as seamlessly as possible,” reads a statement.

Established by Sophie Kirov and Massey in 2020, during the early phases of the pandemic, Lost Motel has overseen the global touring cycles for the likes of Dope Lemon, Flight Facilities, G Flip, Matt Corby, Shlohmo, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Touch Sensitive, Bob Moses and others.

“We recognise that the success of our clients comes from all the pieces in the puzzle working together in harmony, and this continues to be the driving force in our operations,” comments Kirov in a statement.
