Lee Kernaghan wins Best Album as Golden Guitar awards announce performers

Lee Kernaghan has been announced in advance of the country music Toyota Golden Guitars awards this month that he is the recipient of the Sanity Top Selling Album of the Year for his The 25th Anniversary Album.

It debuted at #1 on the ARIA Country Album and peaked at #3 on the ARIA Top 100.

Kernaghan who has sold a total of 2 million records domestically, was also nominated in three other categories.

The 46th Toyota Golden Guitars are held on Saturday, January 27 before 5000 members of the public and the music industry at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre.

This year’s theme is ‘Country in the Key of Collaboration’ – a celebration of the diversity and collaborative nature the industry.

Tamworth Regional Council and the Country Music Association of Australia have announced the list of performers.

O’Shea, who is also hosting, will take to the stage with a choir of students from the CMAA Senior Academy of Country Music.

Seven-time finalists Kasey Chambers and The McClymonts will also be amongst the performers list along with Travis Collins & Amber Lawrence, Shane Nicholson, The Bushwackers featuring John Williamson & The Bush Choir, Judah Kelly, Tania Kernaghan, Fanny Lumsden, Tom Curtain & Luke O’Shea, Aleyce Simmonds, Dean Perrett, Davidson Brothers, Ashleigh Dallas and first-time finalist Brad Butcher.

Awards Executive Producer Peter Ross said that the performers would showcase country music’s diversity of styles.

“They are all a testament to the quality and depth of talent we have in Australian country music across a range of genres, with a great mix of established and up-and-coming artists set to entertain all those in attendance,” he pointed out.

“This line-up further assures that the stage is set for an incredible showcase in Tamworth on January 27 when we announce the winners on Australian country music’s biggest night.”

While Kernaghan’s The 25th Anniversary Album was on top on the ARIA end of year Country Album Chart, Kasey Chambers’ Dragonfly was in second spot, with Adam Harvey & Beccy Cole’s The Great Country Songbook Vol. II in third place.

The McClymonts’ Endless finished in fourth spot, while Judah Kelly’s Count On Me was the fifth highest selling album of 2017.

This takes Chambers and The McClymonts to seven finalists spots each, Kernaghan to four and Kelly to two places amongst the finalists.
