Mushroom inks British songwriter Laura Marling to publishing deal

Mushroom Music Publishing has announced the direct signing of Laura Marling.

Since the release of her acclaimed debut album Alas I Cannot Swim in 2008, Marling has become one of the UK’s most singular and gifted of British artists.

Barely out of her twenties, her seventh studio album Song For Our Daughter will be released on the 10th April with lead single ‘Held Down’ out today.

“We have been long time admirers of Laura Marling at Mushroom Music, enraptured by her exquisite and transformative songwriting,” said Mushroom’s publishing MD, Linda Bosidis.

“We are so incredibly proud to be working with her and ATC Management on Laura’s sublime forthcoming album and collaborative LUMP project.

“Now more than ever is the time to be inspired by art. To listen to something beautiful and meaningful. Laura’s songs quench that need with brilliance.”

Imbued with the rich story-telling qualities that have come to define many of the greats of their generation, Marling’s music is not defined by one genre alone.

It’s a story that has taken her across the world, performing alongside Bob Dylan and Neil Young, winning a BRIT Award, multiple Mercury Prize wins and being nominated for a Grammy.

“As Laura’s managers, it’s a real pleasure to be working with such an iconic company in Australia and New Zealand,” said Ric Salmon from ATC Management.

“Their passion and enthusiasm for Laura’s artform was evident from the start.”

Fiercely independent but a keen collaborator, Marling’s side-project LUMP with Mike Lindsay of Tunng, released a standout self-titled debut album in 2018, with more to come from LUMP.
