Last.fm partners with Spotify
Spotify’s catalogue of over 20 million songs will now be available to Last.fm’s 55 million registered users, as the two companies strengthen their relationship.
From today, Last.fm users will be able to access the entire catalogue (in the 55 countries in which Spotify is available), with the play function being controllable through the Last.fm interface – effectively merging the complementary functions of both services.
The two musical powerhouses first collaborated in 2012 with the Last.fm on Spotify app, which, conversely, imports Last.fm’s recommendation feature into the Spotify interface, allowing users to create playlists based on recommendations, as well as storing a history of all music played by the user.
“This collaboration with Spotify brings the together the best qualities of both services, creating a stronger listening and discovery experience for music lovers across the globe,” said Simon Moran, Managing Director of Last.fm.
