KUČKA leads nominations for WAM Song Of The Year
KUČKA, the avant-electronic project of producer/vocalist Laura Jane Lowther, leads the nominations for the WAM Song Of The Year with five entries.
Other multi-nominees were roots songwriters Mister and Sunbird and the high decibel Rag n’ Bone, who are up for various categories. Songs by Ruby Boots, Kimberley Carlson, The Disappointed, Charlotte Viney, Coin Banks and Grace Barbé were multi-nominated within the same categories.
The winners of the 16 categories are announced on Saturday March 21 at the new venue of B-Shed in Fremantle. Performing are Methyl Ethyl, Grace Barbé, Lilt and DJ John Safari.
A total prize of $40,000 will be distributed. The Grand Prize offers $3,000 cash; recording time at Albert Studios in Sydney; a publishing deal with Perfect Pitch Publishing; two days recording at Sonic Lolly; mastering provided by William Bowden of King Willy Sound; an online music course valued at $1,640 courtesy of BerkleeOnline; 500 CDs pressed by DiskBank; a RØDE Microphones package; the opportunity to perform at the State Of The Art Festival; and a prime spot on the 2015 WAM Festival line-up
