King Stingray, Jaguar Jonze Lead Lineup For Sounds Australia’s SXSW Showcases

Reigning Michael Gudinski breakthrough artist King Stingray, award-winning singer, songwriter and advocate Jaguar Jonze, ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted INXS co-founder Andrew Farriss, and stars-in-waiting Teenage Joans will wave the flag for Sounds Australia’s showcases at SXSW.

Also confirmed to perform later this month in the Lone Star State are RVG, Jesswar, Hope D, TUSHAR and more, for an all-Australian experience at Australia House, on the site of Lucille’s on 77 Rainey St, in Austin, Texas.

This year’s contingent numbers 32 acts, “highlighting the diverse array of sounds and genres coming out of Australia,” reads a statement from Sounds Australia, the music export body, with performers playing across two stages from midday on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17.

Aussie artists who’ve previously showcased to the international industry at SXSW include Alison Wonderland, Amyl & The Sniffers, Amy Shark, Courtney Barnett, Flume, G Flip, Gang of Youths, Hiatus Kaiyote, RUFUS DU SOL, Vance Joy and many more.

This year, Australia House will be the place for all-things fair dinkum, with a program featuring technology showcases, music performances, keynotes, foodie sessions, and interactive displays opening for guests from the Monday.

Established in 1987, the annual South By Southwest showcase event and conference runs from March 10-19, across multiple tracks of programming, from summits to keynotes, panels, workshops, podcasts and more. The SXSW Music Festival rolls out from March 13-18.

As previously reported, SXSW will expand to Sydney for seven days and nights from Oct. 15-22, marking the event’s first foray outside the United States.
