Kilter ft. Youth: Hold Me

A few weeks ago we reviewed Kilters remix of UK Deep House don Ben Pearce. The lush and rich vibes that are fast becoming synonymous with Kilter are back again with Hold Me. Hold me is Kilters first single to get a proper release and it’s a cracker. Let me sum it up by describing to you how I imagine the film clip. It would be set in a very fancy apartment with a couple sitting down on a lush couch, lit by candles, with a glass of red wine each, staring deep into each others eyes. Also, there’s velvet everywhere and everything is a very rich maroon and it smells like vanilla and everything is covered in the softest possible blankets.

Unfortunately the technology for smells in video clips hasn’t been invented yet, but I’m happy there, and I don’t want it to end; to be honest I’ve had the song on repeat while writing this and I’m trying to stall the writing just so I can keep listening. It packs enough punch due to its tempo and driving kick to impact the dance floor and generate some club play, but warm, soft and smooth at the same time. The soft trap and breakbeats work wonderfully as a counterpoint to the drop and the high hats literally sound perfect. Youth’s vocals are spot on and float effortlessly atop the sea of smoothness that Kilter has created.

Great tune, it’ll be a hit with the alternative stations, triple J will be all over it. This could be the one that breaks him to the commercials!
