Music credit database platform has announced the first sale of its commercial API to , a commercial platform used in more than 5,000 hospitality, fitness, retail and leisure locations.

Jaxsta’s API (or application programming interface) is a service that delivers official music credit data in a simplified way for other programs to use. The new deal with Nightlife will integrate this information into its content management platform, making it easier for Nightlife to fulfil its licensing requirements and discover new music to stream in venues.

“As an Australian company, albeit one with a global focus, I’m thrilled to announce that Jaxsta’s first API deal is with another forward-thinking Australian organisation,” Jaxsta CEO, , said in a statement.

“With Nightlife Music servicing thousands of customers across many different industries, this partnership highlights the importance of deep linked music metadata across multiple industries.

“The goal of these API solutions is to provide big data solutions for customers to enhance their operations, and we’re excited that Jaxsta will be assisting Nightlife Music in delivering a superior experience to its clients.”

Nightlife co-owner, , said Nightlife partnered with Jaxsta because of its ability to provide “accurate data” that is “crucial for the rights management of music”.

“Our developers and content teams are excited for the potential of Jaxsta’s API to ensure rights holders are accredited and paid accurately for the use of songs and sound recordings in public performance on the Nightlife Music and crowdDJ platforms,” de Souza said.

Jaxsta’s first commercial API deal follows a five-year deal it signed with Songtradr last September. The arrangement will allow members of Jaxsta Pro direct access to Songtradr’s Neighbouring Rights revenue collection service.

Just prior to that, Jaxsta celebrated the milestone of 50,000 members using its Jaxsta Pro service.
