Jamie Lane signs records & publishing with Source Music [exclusive]
Brisbane singer-songwriter and producer Jamie Lane has partnered with Source Music.
Jamie Lane is the artist project of James Day, drawing comparisons to Flying Lotus, SBTRKT and Sampha. He’s signed both record and publishing with Rob Scott’s Source Music.
“When Rob reached out, we ended up clicking really well both professionally and artistically,” Day told TMN. “I felt the timing was perfect and together we’ve worked on a vision that aligns with me and where I want to go as an artist.
“I’m stoked to be working with Source and can’t wait to reveal what we have lined up!”
After bursting onto everyone’s radar in 2018 with his infectious single ‘Sink’, which garnering airplay from triple j and over 500,000 streams on Spotify, Day released his debut EP Minimal Haze last year to equally positive reception.
The EP was premiered by popular LA-outlet The Kollection, while the lead single ‘Say It Again’, which featured Naji, was critically acclaimed by Acid Stag, Sniffers and some international outlets in Europe and North America.
Day released the funky electro-house track ‘EZ’ in January, again receiving positive reviews and spins from the triple j team and premiering on London blog EARMILK.
“I’m really stoked to have signed Jamie to Source Music,” said Scott. “Jez Ryan (Mammal Sounds) introduced me to ‘EZ’ and I loved his unique sound and attitude from the get-go.
“Jamie has cultivated a really cool vocal style and exploring his back catalogue showed me the depth of his production skills. We can’t wait to build on the Jamie Lane story and get his incredible music out to the world.”
Next single ‘Sweet/Bitter’, the first through Source Music, drops April 21.
