PRESS RELEASE:
Already boasting a star-studded line up of homegrown acts, Surry Hills Festival is delivering the second wave of talented music makers, joining NOIRE, The Stiffy’s, Sons of East and more to the event on Saturday 26th September.
Leading the bill is Triple J favourite and Triple J Unearthed Laneway Festival winners, dream-pop architects I Know Leopard, who will be bringing their 70’s inspired celestial pop to the already stellar stage. Lyre Birdland are renowned for their reggae, funk and soul while The Civilians will be delivering their vibrant indie-rock. Lucy Lowe will charm audiences with her velvet acoustics, and On the Stoop aim to dazzle your senses bouncing between infectious Eastern-European, Tango and Balkan. Showcasing the variety of our local talent will be High Top Brass Band a 10-piece brass band with a penchant for hip-hop beats and Demi Louise, the soulful songstress with airy tunes.
Spread across the two main stages in Ward Park and Shannon Reserve, the music line up embodies the best of Surry Hills’ local talent. This year’s program also includes acts from the Australian Institute of Music, with a specially curated Pop Up stage, showcasing a wide variety of Sydney’s emerging artists.
