Harry Styles set to double down at radio with ‘Watermelon Sugar’
Off the back of his first Australian airplay #1, Harry Styles has released next single ‘Watermelon Sugar’ from his 2019 sophomore album Fine Line.
The follow-up to TMN Hot 100-topping single ‘Adore You’, the single heads to radio this week via Sony Music and has already proven itself a platinum-certified streaming and sales hit.
‘Watermelon Sugar’ is another example of how Fine Line liberated Styles from the confines of the pop world via which he emerged.
It builds slowly, from a single riff, developing in texture until it peaks with grand rock-pop inspired ostinato, complete with glittering harmonies and syncopated horn countermelodies.
‘Watermelon Sugar’ has already clocked over 346 million streams globally, and taking the next step to radio playlists is merely a formality.
Styles also appears to be teasing a video clip after changes to the colour scheme of his website, and adding a meme generator where fans can add their names to feature alongside lyrics from the single.

With Fine Line sitting snugly at #2 on the latest ARIA Albums Chart, ‘Watermelon Sugar’ will already feel familiar to Styles fans and radio listeners alike.
It shouldn’t be long before we see the track joining ‘Adore You’ in the upper echelons of the TMN Hot 100 powered by Radio Monitor.
Styles is set to tour Australia later in 2020, pending the coronavirus pandemic.
