Gut Health Goes Global With AWAL, Concord Deals (EXCLUSIVE)
Gut Health charts a global course with new deals across recordings, publishing and live bookings, The Music Network can exclusively reveal.
Ahead of several major live dates in the U.K. and Europe, the Naarm/Melbourne dance-punk act signs with Concord Music Publishing and AWAL Recordings, and secures the services of leading U.S. agent Tom Windish, ATC and Select Music for bookings.
The arrangement with AWAL Recordings is a global one, housing Gut Health with a roster including Little Simz, Angie McMahon, Laufey, Genesis Owusu, Spacey Jane, Jungle and others.
“Gut Health is one of the most exciting and energetic bands in Australia right now and AWAL couldn’t be more excited to be working in partnership with them,” enthuses AWAL senior director, marketing Ben Godding.
Godding acknowledges the band’s “fiercely dedicated fanbase” and is confident AWAL is “perfectly placed to empower Gut Health’s independent artistic vision and their ambition for success, both here and abroad.”
Meanwhile, Concord Music Publishing strikes a deal to represent Gut Health’s full songwriting catalog including “Inner Norm” and “Uh Oh.”
“The first time I saw Gut Health, the venue was so packed I had no choice but to watch the sweat drip down the inside of the windows, from outside the pub,” enthuses Matt Tanner, VP A&R at Concord. “Their live shows crackle with an energy that fills a room, and their collective creative spark is electric and the sum of their parts.”
Concord’s roster includes international songwriters and artists from Meg Mac to Alice Ivy, Marlon Williams, Omar Apollo, Tyla, The 1975 and the catalogs of Phil Collins and Pink Floyd.
Going forward, Gut Health is represented for live bookings by ATC Live in the U.K. and Europe with agents Sam Lister and Steve Taylor at the helm, Tom Windish at Wasserman will handle North America and Asia, while Casey O’Shaughnessy and Katie Krollig at Select Music will manage domestic bookings.
This year marks an “exciting chapter” for Gut Health, reps say, and follows-on from the signing of a management deal with Slow Clap, struck in 2023.
Gut Health made noise with the 2022 EP Electric Party Chrome Girl, cut in a Brunswick shipping container. Since then, critics and tastemakers have been all-ears, including triple j Unearthed, which featured the act in early 2023, praising its “raucous, catchy and riotous music.”
The good times rolls with a tour of the U.K. and Europe starting Saturday, May 11 at InColour Festival in Leeds, England.
Next week, the group showcases to the industry at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton (May 16), then gets to work at Foul Weather Festival in Le Havre, France (May 17) and at London Calling in Amsterdam (May 18).
