Grentperez Joins Spotify’s RADAR Program

Step on up, grentperez.

The indie-alt singer and songwriter is the latest homegrown artist tapped for Spotify’s emerging artist program RADAR.

With the promotion, the Sydneysider scores promotional support for his upcoming releases, on-platform marketing, bespoke content and social promotion, and, of course, track placement on the RADAR playlist.

Grentperez is the latest RADAR artist from these parts, joining the likes of Youngn Lipz, Genesis Owusu, Baker Boy, merci mercy, and CHAII.

It’s reward for the 20-year-old Filipino-Australian artist’s growing profile on Spotify, where he’s gathered over 1.9 million monthly listeners and appeared on several popular playlists, including *hits different*.

His dreamy 2021 single “Cherry Wine” — one of many he wrote during lockdown — went viral in multiple countries shortly and has amassed more than 53 million streams on Spotify. The official music video has racked-up more than 5 million views on YouTube.

He’s just released a new single, “Ego,” the latest in a string of 2022 bedroom pop releases releases, including “Don’t Grow Up Too Fast,” “Wishful Thinking,” “Conversations With the Moon,” and “Absence of You.”

“Ego” is lifted from his forthcoming Trail Mix Tape, due out Sept. 30 via Fast Friends.

But first, he’ll showcase to the industry at next month’s Bigsound festival in Brisbane.

“I’m super stoked to share that I’ve been picked to be a Spotify Radar Artist in AUNZ,” he comments. “I released my first single from Conversations With the Moon less than a year ago and I am so grateful for the love from everyone on my music since then. What a bloody honour, thank you so much Spotify! Cheers”.

RADAR selection is more than headline fodder.

According to Spotify, the inaugural RADAR Class of 2020 went on to collectively generate two billion streams globally, with 100 million listening hours, 112 million listeners and a 64% audience increase also being recorded for artists involved in the initiative.

The ANZ program launched in May 2020, with an ambition to offer editorial and marketing support to hotly-tipped artists at a “pivotal moment in their career.”

Grentperez is booked for a lap of Australia and New Zealand through September and October, after which he’ll head to Europe and North America for a run of live shows.
