Golden Stave calls on music industry to support children’s charities

Next Tuesday will see the Australian music industry gather in Sydney for the second annual Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch.

Australian music industry charity the Golden Stave Foundation is calling on the local sector to raise funds to assist handicapped, sick and underprivileged kids.

Its latest fundraising initiative will see all monies raised, donated to a range of children’s charities in New South Wales.

Steve Kilbey (The Church), Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc, Sun Rai), Australia’s Got Talent 2016 winner Fletcher Pilon and singer/songwriter Sarah McLeod will perform.

Attendees of the Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch can bid for money-can’t-buy items including a guitar signed by rock icons AC/DC.

Having raised over $14 million for over 50 NSW Children’s charities since its inception, the Golden Stave was forced to cancel its annual Gala Charity Dinner in June last year – the first time the event wasn’t held in 37 years. At the time, the Board of Trustees of The Golden Stave Foundationcited “disappointing” ticket sales as the reason.

Now, after a successful inaugural charity lunch last November, the Golden Stave has returned the event in 2016, to be held at Sheraton on the Park Hotel at 12.00pm, Tuesday, November 1.

Among its music industry supporters are celebrity ambassadors Glenn A. Baker, Jono Coleman, Bianca Dye and Guy Sebastian.
