Future Classic and Brown Bear Entertainment merge touring businesses
Sydney-based Future Classic has merged its touring business with Brown Bear Entertainment. The alliance, announced this morning, will see Future Classic becoming a shareholder in Brown Bear Entertainment.
Future Classic’s tours in the past nine years since its launch have included Little Dragon, Sebastien Tellier, The Whitest Boy Alive and Mount Kimbie as well as a host of electronic club acts. This year alone, acts included Classixx, Lindstrom, Tiger & Woods, Bicep, Shlohmo, Cashmere Cat, Lapalux and John Talabot. It’s also hosted stages nationally at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and showcase events at Sydney Festival, Perth International Arts Festival and Vivid LIVE.
Brown Bear Entertainment was set up in April this year by Anand and Jessica Krishnaswamy as a electronic-orientated tour company. It brought out next-generation producers Baauer, TNGHT, GTA, Ryan Hemsworth, Kaytranada, DJ Snake and Cyril Hahn, with successful headline runs for Booka Shade, Digitalism, Crookers and Yuksek.
Future Classic founder Nathan McLay said of the touring alliance: “While the primary motivation for us has always been a passion for putting on shows, international touring is also a core part of our business. We’re excited to strengthen the service we provide our partners through the collective experience-base this alliance creates”.
Brown Bear Entertainment managing director Anand Krishnaswamy added, “This represents an exciting new chapter in our business. Jess and I have always had the utmost respect for Future Classic so joining forces was a no-brainer. We’ve had a successful year, and 2014 is already shaping up to be bigger and better.”
Their first tour together will be announced shortly. The two companies will also present some events independently.
