Flume one of several Aussies to crack Billboard’s Top Dance 100 Artists

Five Australian acts have made it into a global list of Billboard’s Top Dance 100 Artists of 2019.

The highest ranked Aussie is Flumewho came in at #14.

The producer from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, real name Harley Streten, is clearly still an influential figure despite last week’s mixtape release Hi This Is Flume marking his first new music in three years, after the Grammy-winning Skin album in 2016.

But the strength of the 17 tracks on the mixtape coupled with new single ‘Friends’ and plans for global festival appearances this year saw Billboard magazine recognise his rising star.

Several other Aussie ranked highly, including dance trio RÜFÜS DU SOL at #30 who Billboard described as “one of electronic music’s top stories”

Producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Alison Wonderland was named at #36. Her strength as a live drawcard in the US recently saw her show at legendary venue Red Rocks sell out in five minutes.

Rising star Fisher was named at #80 after a breakout 2018 which saw his single ‘Losing It’ gain cult status and reach #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100.

Finally, twin producers Nervo took out #82. They recently announced that they are both pregnant, and are preparing to host their own stage at Tomorrowland in July.

Topping the list was faceless Marshmello, followed by long-standing electronic innovator Calvin Harris, and hitmakers The Chainsmokers.
