Fairbridge Festival calls out for performers

Western Australia’s folk, roots, blues, acoustic, Celtic, acapella and world music festival, Fairbridge, has opened performer expressions of interest for 2019.

The family-friendly camping event takes place on April 26—28 (its 27th year) in the traffic-free, self-contained bushland site of Fairbridge Village on the South West Highway, 5km north of Pinjarra and 100km south of Perth’s outlying south-eastern suburbs.

Artists who can deliver interesting workshops, themed presentations, or are releasing music before the festival will be favourably considered.

Fairbridge also has dedicated youth and children’s programs and are looking to present to these audiences.

There are also book talks, street performers, circus, arts and crafts workshops, dance displays, and wellness activities.

Its not-for-profit organisation, FolkWorld Inc., presenter says it receives over 500 applications from artists Australia-wide, while many internationals strive to make it a part of their touring schedule

A 2017 audience survey by the festival found that patrons came from every part of WA regions except for the Gascoyne.

The largest audience segment was from the southern metropolitan suburbs at 28.95% followed by the northern suburbs at 20.68%.

18.67% of those who replied to the study were first-time visitors.
