Elizabeth Rose signs worldwide publishing deal with UMPG

Former Editor

Universal Music Publishing Australia has signed 22-year-old Sydney artist Elizabeth Rose to a worldwide publishing agreement.

The announcement comes days after the release of the songwriter/producer/artist’s eponymous EP. Lead single The Good Life stayed in the Top 5 on Australian alternative radio for one month last year and second single Sensibility has just been added to triple j.

“It takes one listen to The Elizabeth Rose EP to instantly recognise the extent of Elizabeth’s songwriting ability- her songs are memorable, inventive and honest,” said Heath Johns, Director of A&R, Universal Music Publishing Australia. “We are very much looking forward to opening up our global network of creative staff, collaborators and opportunities to Elizabeth.”

Since releasing her debut EP Crystallise through Inertia and Grizzly Records in the UK last year, Rose was later selected for triple j’s Next Crop, won the Qantas Spirit Of Youth Award (SOYA), sang on Flight Facilities’ track I Didn’t Believe and last month she was dubbed Next Big Thing at the Sydney Music, Art and Culture (SMAC) Awards.

“I have a lot of big goals for my career as a writer and producer and I’m thrilled at the prospect of reaching them quicker with the Universal team representing me now,” she said in a statement. “2014 is going to be a busy year for me, I can’t wait!”

Rose joins UMPG Australia signed artists 360, Passenger, M-Phazes, The Aston Shuffle, Gang of Youths, Guy Sebastian, Horrorshow, Savage, The Veronicas, Children Collide, The Living End, Wolfmother, Bernard Fanning, Sietta, The Potbelleez, Jackie Onassis, Bag Raiders, Dead Letter Circus, Spit Syndicate, Jonti and Last Dinosaurs.
