DMA’S predicted to hit Top 5 in the U.K. and Australia with ‘The Glow’

DMA’S predicted to hit Top 5 in the U.K. and Australia with ‘The Glow’

DMA’S are on the verge of going where they’ve never gone before: to the U.K. top 5 and No. 1 in Australia.

The Sydney trio are flying high with their new album, The Glow, which starts at No. 3 on the midweek U.K. albums chart.

It’s the most-downloaded album in the first half of the chart cycle, the Official Charts Company reports.

It’s set to debut high this week on the ARIA Charts. Sources say it will be a battle for No. 1 between DMA’S and Lime Cordiale, and should easily eclipse the No. 7 best for its predecessor, For Now.

The band’s predilection for ‘90s swagger and Britpop has resonated with the Brits, with 2016’s Hills End peaking at No. 36 in the U.K. and 2018’s For Now reaching No. 13 (their MTV Unplugged Live set from 2019 hit No. 65).

In late 2019, the alternative rock outfit landed a coveted slot supporting Liam Gallagher on a nationwide arena tour

The Glow is released in the U.K. through Korda Marshall’s Infectious Music, a music company with a long affiliation with Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Group, parent of I OH YOU.

There’s little chance The Glow will catch The Streets’ latest mixtape None of Us Are Getting Out of This Alive (Polydor), which has lead of 3,000 chart sales over its nearest rival, Juice Wrld’s posthumous album Legends Never Die (Interscope).

The Streets’ latest effort has an Australian flavour to it. Its lead track ‘Call My Phone Thinking Doing Nothing Better,’ is a collaboration with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

Over on the U.K.singles survey, teenage Kiwi producer Jawsh 685 is locking on for a third consecutive chart title as his collaboration with Jason Derulo, ‘Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)’ (RCA).

The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts are published late Friday local time.

DMA’S return to Australian stages with six ‘Unplugged & Intimate’ dates across three nights at Sydney’s Factory Theatre in July/August 2020, all of which are sold out.

Earlier this week, promoters Frontier Touring, I OH YOU and Secret Sounds added four COVIDSafe concerts at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday, 29th August and Sunday, 30th August.
