Delta Goodrem & Jessica Mauboy cut sports deals

Australian pop divas Delta Goodrem and Jessica Mauboy, both long time sports enthusiasts, have signed two sports-orientated deals.

Goodrem has been appointed an official ambassador for this year’s 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

She will also headline the 600 Sounds concert on the Gold Coast (October 20-22) and the inaugural Coates Hire Newcastle 500 (November 24-26) race weekends. The star will also perform on the starting grid at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in October.

The 600 Sounds concert attracted over 18,500 when Cold Chisel headlined the event in 2015 at Broadwater Parklands.

Supercars CEO James Warburton said, “We are delighted Delta is joining our sport as we continue to broaden our fan base and introduce Supercars to new audiences

“The strength of our sport is in its wide appeal. From white to blue collar, four to eighty-four, surgeons to barristers and tradies to truckies — no sport in this country has such a broad and diverse base.”

Goodrem, taking a break from filming the Olivia Newton-John tele-series, added, “It’s an honour to represent a sport loved by millions here at home and around the world.

“I am looking forward to performing at some of the major events around the country, meeting the fans and seeing some incredible Supercar action.”

Fox Sports has tapped Jessica Mauboy to feature in an ad for its new Fox League channel, which focuses solely on Rugby League and launches on February 27.

The ad sees the singer-songwriter showing her shameless loyalty to the North Queensland Cowboys by poking fun at the other teams. These include the Cronulla Sharks, Brisbane Broncos, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The ad follows Fox Sports’ new theme for 2017, ‘Everyone’s team deserves to be seen.’ It reflects Fox League offerings across Foxtel, Foxtel Play, and Foxtel Go, and the return of the Fox Footy Channel, featuring both male and female competitions.

Paul Bradbury, CEO at TBWA Sydney agency, which created the ad, referred to Mauboy as the “perfect person” to launch the channel.

“Jessica Mauboy’s passion as an NRL fan (and Cowboys fan) was on full display for this campaign, and most Australians are fans of Jess, so she was the perfect person to spread the word of the launch of Foxtel’s Fox League channel.

“Jess may appear sweet but her love of the North Queensland Cowboys can change all that in an instant,” he jestingly remarked.

The campaign runs across OOH, print, radio, digital and social from February 27 through to April.
