Brisbane indie Coolin’ By Sound signs I’national deal
Brisbane-based indie label Coolin’ By Sound has signed a global deal with North Carolina-based distributor Redeye Worldwide covering physical and digital formats.
The first release under the partnership will be Time Again, the second album from Brisbane five-piece Dumb Things, due out on November 8.
The band’s new single ‘Today Tonight’ has been picked up by community radio around the country, and comes with a video directed by Kale McRedmond.
Coolin’ By Sound has already released albums by Thigh Master, Shrapnel, Spiral Stairs, Tape/Off and The Gametes with the slate also including Adam Gibson.
The Redeye deal was struck after Redeye and Coolin’ By Sound reps met at BIGSOUND.
“A few of us at Redeye have been fans of the artists Shelly and Belly at Coolin’ By Sound have been releasing for years now,” explains Redeye’s Australian rep Antonio Foxlee.
“It’s safe to say their roster is going to be right at home at Redeye, we’re very much looking forward to representing them worldwide and connecting them with a global audience.”
Coolin’ By Sound co-owner Steve Bell says of the deal, “In terms of being able to do more for the bands we love on our label we feel so privileged to be welcomed into the Redeye team.”
Other Australian labels with Redeye are Wing Sing Records (The Peep Tempel) and Hysterical Records (Wet Lips, Shrimpwitch).
Its international imprints include Yep Roc, Mom+Pop, Daptone, Burger, Barsuk, City Slang, Thrill Jockey, New West and Soul Jazz.
