Cooking Vinyl signs Kate Miller-Heidke, Calling All Cars

Cooking Vinyl Australia has signed singer songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke and Melbourne trio Calling All Cars.

Kate Miller-Heidke inked a worldwide services deal (except for the United States) for her fourth album O Vertigo! for global release on March 14. After seven years with Sony, Miller-Heidke went the independent route. The album was funded entirely by fans via PledgeMusic in a record-breaking three days. It features folkie Passenger, hip hop performer Drapht and Megan Washington. The first single Drama, featuring Drapht, is out on February 14.

Calling All Cars have licensed their third album Raise The People for a worldwide release on March 7. The record was co-produced by Steve Schram and Tom Larkin and mixed by Grammy Award winning producer Tchad Blake.

Stu Harvey of CV Australia said: “Kate Miller-Heidke and Calling All Cars are both compelling artists and we have two brilliant albums ready to go. For Kate, she’s embarking on a completely different venture this time round, having written so much of her record and enjoying complete control over how it came together. We’re also really looking forward to taking the guys from CAC’s music to an international audience.”

Both artists will embark on Australian tours in March before heading to the UK in April, Cooking Vinyl’s London office announced.

Meantime the UK operations has signed the newly re-formed UB40 and Röyksopp.
