Conrad Sewell signs to Sony Music Entertainment
Los Angeles-based Australian singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell has signed with Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand, the label announced this morning.
The ARIA-winning platinum act will release two singles simultaneously, through Sony Music Entertainment ANZ and his US label, 300 Entertainment.
The songs are inspired by the “emotional turbulence in his personal and professional life over the past few years.”
Sewell said “I am so excited to join the Sony Music family and for the world to hear this new music.
“I have poured my heart and soul into in these songs in the hopes of moving people on many levels.
“I am honoured to have such an iconic label behind me in this next chapter of my career.”
Denis Handlin AO, chairman & CEO, Sony Music Entertainment Australia & New Zealand and President, Asia commented: “Conrad Sewell is an incredibly talented artist and I am thrilled to welcome him to the Sony Music family.
“This exciting next phase of his career will see him reach new heights and we are honoured to be a part of it.”
Growing up in Brisbane, Sewell had started to send his demos around by the age of eight.
In 2014, his break came when he appeared on Kygo‘s ‘Firestone’, a top five around the world which sold a million in the US and clocked up 1 billion cumulative streams,
His first solo single ‘Start Again’ took out the 2015 ARIA song of the year.
Follow up ‘Hold Me Up’ generated 53 million Spotify streams and preceded his debut EP, All I Know.
Tours through Australia with Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5 and Kygo followed.
In March 2016, Sewell’s vocals featured on Coca-Cola’s campaign, Taste The Feeling, a track which he made with the late Avicci.
Earlier this year he recorded with Amin van Buure on ‘Sex, Love & Water’ and played China with him.
