CD Baby launches analytics dashboard for indie artists
Online music sales platform CD Baby has added a Trending and Analytics Dashboard to its interface, according to Hypebot. Interactive data reports will be available for platform users enabling them to obtain information on which countries, states and cities their music is most widely streamed and downloaded.
The Trending and Analytics Dashboard also incorporates data on how fans are listening to music. This includes being able to determine which streaming services, whether Spotify, Apple Music or other streaming services, are most popular choices for artists’ fan to access their music.
Specific songs can also be tracked to see which particular songs are most popular and the most popular playlists that have added track plays. Within this tool, the data can be broken down further to offer catered information on desktop, mobile or tablet listening trends.
Established in 1998, CD Baby now serves 400,000 independent musicians across the world. The new dashboard tool will grant them insight into the demographic and geographical nature of their fan base. The new addition sees CD Baby providing a tool that is akin to the marketing services provided to signed artists by major labels, despite CB Baby’s artists operating independently.
The data will give CD Baby’s atists a vital guide to determine where they should concentrate their marketing initiatives through social media promotion, while also giving artists an idea of where to tour.
“We often receive up to 14 million lines of data in one night from Spotify alone and trends in this data change constantly,” says Erica Sinkovic, CD baby Manager of Product Development. “Now artists can observe these changes on a daiy basis,” she added.
