Caitlin Yeo wins top gong at Screen Music Awards
Multi-award winner Caitlin Yeo took out the top trophy at last night’s Screen Music Awards in Sydney.
Yeo won the coveted Feature Film Score of the Year for The Rocket, which has already taken out gongs at the Tribeca Film Festival and Berlinale, as well as the Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2013 Sydney Film Festival.
Yeo’s work has been included in six movies, including Jucy and All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, and twenty TV and cinema documentaries. The one time APRA Professional Development Award winner also teaches composition and film music theory at The Australian Institute of Music.
The collaboration between Custard/Polaroids frontman David McCormack and composer Antony Partos had two wins from the Redfern Now series. These were for Best Music for A Television Series/Serial (Episode 4: Stand Up) and Best Original Song Composed For The Screen for the moving Lonely Child. Both were published by Sonar Music.

It was apt that Tropfest founder John Polsen’s thank you speech for his International Achievement Award had to be pre-recorded. After winding up another Tropfest event on Sunday, he headed right back to New York where his Elementary TV series had started shooting.
The Screen Music Awards were held at the Sydney State Theatre and hosted by The Chaser’s Andrew Hansen and Chris Taylor. They were organised by APRA-AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers. Music performances were by Ignatius Jones, Emma Birdsall and Music Director Ashley Irwin.
